XXXVI: The Nocturnal’s Struggle of Waking Up Early / Notes to Self XVI

If you have been following The Diary lately, you should know that I’ve been making gradual changes in my life. One of those changes is waking up early for work—ideally at 8:00am. I did just that on most workdays after ToyCon 2025, and there were times I even woke up at 6:00am. (That’s a feat for a nocturnal person like me, and even my family is shocked by the fact that I woke up before they did.)

Now it’s beyond the middle of August 2025, and I admit that I haven’t really been waking up as early as 8am lately… and that’s fine.

(Buckle up because this is going to be a long post.)

10-Minute Warning CLVI

So, what can I tell here under 10 minutes?

I only have a few minutes before Saturday, 12am, so I would like to share one thing: Yesterday’s birthday dinner was the best one by far, and I’m still on cloud nine. One reason for its success is that I enjoyed a lovely dinner with my entire family and a few of my closest friends. I will write more about the event probably next week.

And because of yesterday’s dinner, I’m inspired to plan out next year’s birthday (yes, this early) and try to invite more people – more friends and a few more relatives. But then again, it’s too early. For now, let me enjoy this happy feeling while I still can.

Again, happiest birthday to me, The Deranged Writer!

Song of the Moment LX: Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday”

This post is a part of 14 Days of The Deranged Writer (2024).

Because it’s my birthday today, I wanted to wake up at 8am and write a lengthy birthday post. But I woke up at 9:30am and I got lazy writing. But what the hell… I should cut myself some slack because it’s my special day.

As for my other plans for the rest of the day, I will drop by my favorite cafe Satchmi and then look for available restaurants for my birthday dinner. I just hope I can do the latter before nighttime. Fingers crossed, man.

Speaking of birthdays, let me share my Song of the Moment: Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday”. I will definitely listen to this on repeat before I move on to my favorite bands’ classics like Coheed and Cambria’s “Welcome Home” and Foo Fighters’ “Walk”. (I might cry listening to the latter.)

Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday”.

Happiest birthday to me, The Deranged Writer!
