30-Minute Warning XV

OK. What can I share here in under 30 minutes?

Let me recall what happened last weekend. Last Friday night, I had my weekly Jack and Coke and an Army Navy California Burger to kick off the weekend. This is why I’m fat. But whatever. My weekend kick-off makes me happy. But this time, I lessened the number of Jack and Cokes I drank – I drank 2 instead of 3. My therapist told me to slowly lessen the drinking instead of going cold turkey, so I did. As much as I want to gulp my favorite drink, I need to take care of my health.

How about last Saturday? Well, the day was all right. I paid some bills and I rested a lot. Thank goodness for the weekend. But the most note-worthy thing happened during the night: my younger brothers’ band joined a battle of the bands. As usual, I recorded their whole set, but I was screaming and cheering for them this time. Unfortunately, they lost, but what matters is they did their best. Better luck next time… and I will invite more people to cheer for the band. And hats off to the other bands – they also killed it and they deserve the cheers they got.

As for Sunday, I went to church and then I dropped by my favorite spot Satchmi. But before I went to my favorite cafe, I suddenly saw a friend that I had not seen in… a decade? Yeah! It was that long. But seeing my friend for a few seconds made my day – the 1st friend I interacted with in person this 2024. I love it when I see good friends suddenly and without planning it! After seeing my friend and having my weekly cafe drink, I joined my Mother and cousins in having some tasty ramen for dinner. My weekend ended on a lovely note!

Moving on to today, I feel great! What happened during the weekend gave me a lot of energy to do all the sudden workload for today. And working while listening to the Foo Fighters’ 10th studio album Medicine at Midnight – which was released 3 years ago today – motivated me even further. Thank you, my favorite band.

I started my week strong, and I hope to keep it up throughout the week and beyond!

And time’s up.

10-Minute Warning XV

So, what can I tell here in under 10 minutes?

I’m typing this on mobile while my younger brothers, their bandmates and I are on the way to Cavite. This is the 1st time I’m blogging while on a moving vehicle, so I’m only focused on writing. I can’t make a featured header image here as of now.

Tonight I saw my younger brothers and their bandmates perform (and killed it, as usual) at a bar in Menlo, Pasay. Last night, I also saw them perform at a bar just beside tonight’s venue. I love seeing my brothers’ band live while I gulp on a few beers and cocktails. I usually don’t go out at night, so I tend to enjoy the nightlife whenever I do go out.

And because I saw my brothers’ band tonight, I was not able to go to my favorite busker’s birthday gig. When I have to choose between my brothers and another favorite solo act or band, I choose my brothers every time. And there was also a dress code for the gig (which is a school outfit; student, admin, whatever) but I don’t want to ruin Flannel Friday. (That’s a weekly habit of mine when I wear flannel every Friday, no matter what the weather is.)

And oh! I have been drinking alcohol more than usual yesterday and tonight. I think that’s all right because I rarely drinking too much booze. I drank this cocktail with Red Bull, Sprite and gin, this cocktail that tastes like peach, and San Mig Light.

And time’s up.

30-Minute Warning I

What can I say in this post in under 30 minutes?

Well, this is the 4th straight Minute Warning post and the 1st 30-Minute Warning post here on The Dispatch. That’s great because I have been blogging frequently as I promised. I’m planning to mix it up a bit though. I’m planning to publish more short poems soon and a birthday letter to The Undertaker this Friday, March 24. (Would you look at that… The Deadman has a birthday!) I hope you, my dear reader, can check that out this weekend.

Last night, I saw my younger brothers’ band perform in a bar in Marikina. They performed 2 original songs, and they killed it! The 1st song was released last June 2022, and they are recording the 2nd song recently. I’m pretty excited about the upcoming song because it will be the band’s 1st Filipino single and the lyrics are about resting after being so tired. (That’s a topic I can relate to.)
