10-Minute Warning CLXXXI

Since I’m heading out to my safe space and have a caffeinated drink, what can I share here under 10 minutes?

Firstly, let me rant for a while: In my current job as an admin assistant, I expect a lot of billings during the first week. I got used to working on those billings, but what I’m still not used to is checking a set of reports handwritten by one of our employees. His reports are fine… except that the way he writes the letter E looks like a fusion of the letters B and R, and that hurts my head every time. Ugh.

Anyway, what else? Oh… Lately, I noticed that whenever I listen to music on Spotify, sometimes it plays the perfect song or at least a line or two whenever I do something. For example, last Friday night, I heard the line “I took a sip from my devil’s cup” from Britney Spears’ “Toxic” (one of my favorite Britney Spears songs ever) when I took a sip from my favorite Jack & Coke Zero.

Since then, I have been calling the aforementioned drink “The Devil’s Cup”. Thanks, universe, Spotify, and Ms. Britney!

…and my 10 minutes are almost up. I need to go. See you in the next post, and have a nice week ahead!

Song of the Moment LXXXIII: Maroon 5’s “Back at Your Door”

Since last Saturday night, I have been listening to Maroon 5’s “Back at Your Door” (the final song from the band’s second studio album It Won’t Be Soon Before Long) on repeat, and it looks like it’s turning into my favorite Maroon 5 song over “Makes Me Wonder” because of the mental and emotional pain I have lately. The jazz-flavored ballad is so full of regret and yearning, and in my humble opinion, it also presents Adam Levine’s best vocal performance.

Listening to “Back at Your Door” last Saturday night kept me sane when my family was out of town and I was alone with my thoughts and my favorite Jack & Coke Zero. And what is the most painful part of the song—but I always go back to it? It’s this:

Why do you do this to me?
You penetrate right through me
Every time I wind up back at your door

No need to cry about it
I may just die without it
Every time I wind up back at your door

See you in the next post.

Song of the Moment LXIV: Craig David’s “Don’t Love You No More (I’m Sorry)”

One of my resolutions in 2025 is to listen to at least one different music artist per week – a singer or a band that is not on my usual daily rotation. To kick off my resolution, I started with English singer Craig David, and listening to his hits and a few deep cuts has been refreshingly amazing.

What is my most listened-to Craig David song this week? It’s the sensual hit “7 Days”. But as I type this, I’m listening to my second most listened-to, “Don’t Love You No More (I’m Sorry)”. It’s an R&B song released in 2005 that reminds me of a heartbreaking moment that happened more than a decade later. Listening to it has been painful and addictive at the same time.

Happy weekend, everyone.
