Song of the Moment LXVI: Spice Girls’ “Too Much”

Last Monday, I felt so unhappy and unmotivated that I skipped exercise time and my favorite cafe time. So last night, I went to the mall, had a fresh haircut, and ate my favorite BLT sandwich at my favorite cafe. I also made time to write in my journal and planner. All of those things made me feel better.

Today, I finished all of my work tasks, and I wrote again in my journal and planner earlier than usual. Then I was reminded of a 2025 resolution I still haven’t accomplished: finding a second job. Yes, it’s early to tell because it’s still January, and my current clerical job is stable. But I have to be honest: my current pay sucks and I need to keep up with the growing bills. I need another way to save more money. That means I need to find another job—a well-paying part-time job—and I need to do it more strenuously.

Anyway, after work and reminding myself about a resolution, I watched the iconic graphic novel-turned-film V for Vendetta, and now I’m writing this while listening to a hit by the Spice Girls, “Too Much”. It was my favorite song from the English girl group when I was young, and it’s still my favorite from them now—even if some of the lyrics remind me of a painful memory several years back.

Happy Wednesday, everyone.

Song of the Moment LXV: Them Crooked Vultures’ “Mind Eraser, No Chaser”

I said I would listen to at least one different music artist per week, and last Monday I listened to all of Spice Girls’ studio albums. (Yes, I listen to Spice Girls. Deal with it.) But because January 14 is Dave Grohl’s birthday, I had to set the iconic English girl group aside and listen more to the bands throughout Mr. Grohl’s career – iconic grunge band Nirvana, my favorite band of all time Foo Fighters, and my favorite rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures.

As I type this, I’m drinking my favorite Jack and Coke Zero while listening to “Mind Eraser, No Chaser”, the second song from Them Crooked Vultures’ self-titled debut (and only) album and my favorite song from them. Mr. Grohl’s team-up with Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age and John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin is mind-blowing. I hope they will reunite and make another record.

Belated happiest birthday to Dave Grohl!

Song of the Moment LIX: Limp Bizkit’s “Build a Bridge”

This post is a part of 14 Days of The Deranged Writer (2024).

After running errands around Ortigas for almost the whole day, I went to my favorite cafe Satchmi, ordered my favorite affogato, and updated my trusty journal/planner. I felt so much better after that, and now I’m excited (and a bit nervous) for my birthday tomorrow. Thank you, Satchmi. I might drop by there again tomorrow.

While I was drinking my affogato and writing, I also listened to music on Spotify for 30 minutes before my wireless earphones ran out of power. I was listening to Jewel’s “Intuition”, Hanson’s “I Will Come to You”, and then Limp Bizkit’s “Build a Bridge”. The latter is my favorite Limp Bizkit song because it sounds so different from their signature nu metal sound and the longing, determined lyrics (especially the chorus) moved me. “Build a Bridge” also reminded me of WWE Survivor Series (2003), one of the best Survivor Series events (in my opinion) and the end of American Badass/Big Evil Undertaker.

Even though it’s gonna crumble down (Gonna crumble down)
I’ll keep buildin’ till you come around (Till you come around)
Even though it’s gonna fall apart and break my heart (Break my heart)
I’ll keep buildin’ till I die

Limp Bizkit’s “Build a Bridge”

After listening to “Build a Bridge”, I decided to listen to a few more WWE-related songs like one of WrestleMania 21’s theme songs, 3 Doors Down’s “Behind Those Eyes”, and two of WrestleMania 23’s theme songs, Saliva’s “Ladies and Gentlemen” and Default’s “The Memory Will Never Die”… and then my earphones ran out of power. Oh, well. At least I’m happy now.

And tonight, I will give “Build a Bridge” another listen. Maybe three more or four.

1 day before my birthday… I mean, less 30 minutes to go before my birthday. Hell yes! See you tomorrow!
