30-Minute Warning VII

Yesterday, I had my 1st job interview of 2023. After so many months of looking for a web/graphic design job opportunity, I finally got at least an interview. Hell yes! And looking back at my interview, I may have mumbled a few times, but I think it went well. I just hope it did.

During the interview, I learned that the job opportunity will have a mid-day shift or night shift. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but even if I’m nocturnal, I don’t want a night shift. I hope I get a mid-schedule. Pretty please, Lord. Please. And the job is just an FX ride away from home, which will be convenient for me.

After the interview, I was given 2 design tests. The 1st one is a homepage redesign (with desktop and mobile versions) and the 2nd is a social media ad design (Apple-themed with square and vertical sizes). The test deadline is tomorrow at 10am.

And guess what? I’m already done with the social media ad design. Since it is Apple-themed, I made a minimalist artwork with flat-lay images of a MacBook and an iPad and then the copy and a few logos. Why make it complicated, right?

As for the homepage mockups, I already have both desktop and mobile versions. But I’m worried that they may look for a mockup with dropdown menus – which I haven’t done and honestly, I don’t have enough time to prepare those. But basically, the default homepage mockups are done. I just hope those are already enough. Wish me luck?

10-Minute Warning IX

OK. So, what can I type here in under 10 minutes?

Today is World Sleep Day, and I lack sleep. Isn’t that ironic? And I need to sleep early tonight because I will be joining a survey with Father tomorrow morning. This is the 1st time I will be working on a Saturday since… 2014, I think?

In my 1st and previous job, my work schedule is from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. But there was this one time that I needed to work on a Saturday. That counted as overtime work. And the funny thing is that we worked beyond that overtime. I got paid well after that, but it was an exhausting experience.

Anyway, I’m so tired right now. And I tried to take a morning nap while I’m in the car with Mother and Father. (We were on our weekly visit to one of our clients’ offices.) But I can’t get that perfect nap. So I didn’t bother trying again by drinking a Cold Brew Malt from Starbucks Reserve. At least I got to drink one of my favorite non-alcoholic drinks and that extra caffeine boost.

I’ll just sleep early tonight. Tomorrow I’m going to work with Father in the morning, and then go to a gig in the evening. My younger brothers’ band will be performing.

Hey, that rhymed.

And time’s up.

10-Minute Warning I

So, what can I say (or type) in 10 minutes?

Well, today is Monday. I’m typing away while listening to Paramore’s “Still Into You”. It’s my current LSS and, in my opinion, one of the best Paramore songs. And yes, the song reminds me of someone I was close with. I miss her.

Today, I dreaded waking up early. I set my alarm for 8 am, but I woke up 11 minutes later. I want to go back to bed and sleep, but I can’t. I have a job to do. I need to drink some strong coffee and walk around the office – which is also our house.

I have been working for my family’s company for almost a month. And I’m thankful for my current job. It’s clerical work; it’s not the job I wanted. But at least I’m earning money now and my writing, time management, and file management skills are being developed. And since I’m working from home, I don’t have to spend money on food. I like to stay in this job for another month or 2. Or 3. (It depends on when I finally get an ideal, stable web/graphic design job – a job I have been looking for for a few years and counting.)

What else? Crap. I’m not even sure if I’m writing properly. But then I’m writing under time pressure. I need to take a chill pill.

And wait a minute. Just checked my Instagram. Undertaker and Dave Grohl have Super Bowl commercials?! I must check them in a bit.

And time’s up.
