Finally, the weekend is here, and I’m about to have a celebratory Jack & Coke Zero tonight. (This is also in celebration of the Foo Fighters’ 30th anniversary.)

Continue reading XXIX: Ranting About Work & Raving About a Foo Fighters Music MarathonOne of my happiest childhood memories is watching Batman Forever in theaters with my family. It is the first Batman movie I have seen in cinemas, and I thank the film, a VHS tape of Batman Returns, and Batman: The Animated Series on television for igniting my passion for anything Batman. And when I watched it several more times as an adult, well… yes, it is campy overall, but I would pick it over the other Joel Schumacher-era Batman film Batman & Robin primarily because of Val Kilmer’s portrayal of Bruce Wayne and Batman—serious, conflicted but not too dark which blends well with movie’s vibe.
That is why it’s heartbreaking to learn that Val Kilmer died of pneumonia last April 1. Another Batman is gone. Damn. To soothe the pain, I’m listening to Seal’s “Kiss from a Rose”, the second single from the Batman Forever movie soundtrack.
Rest in peace, Val Kilmer and Joel Schumacher. Thank you for the memories.

Have you ever had a dream so happy that you wish the dream would never end? That’s the kind of dream that I had last Sunday, and I woke up feeling happy… and then my smile turned into a frown. It was only a dream.
“But Dewey, it was just a dream. Don’t worry about it.” That’s the thing: It was only a dream.
Since then, I have been struggling to bounce back. I had a hard time fixing my sleeping schedule. I had a hard time finishing my work tasks faster. I had a hard time basically being fine. If I were to add a piece of melancholic background music to my current predicament, it would be “Metamorphosis: One” by Philip Glass. It is one of my favorite sad songs ever.
And coincidentally, a year ago today, I also blogged about “Metamorphosis: One” as a Song of the Moment. I only found out after searching the old post. (If you click on the aforementioned link, there’s a spoiler warning if you have not seen “return 0”, the final episode of my all-time favorite series Person of Interest.)
Anyway, even if I’m sad, I will try to keep going. I have to.
