Song of the Moment CIX: My Chemical Romance’s “Teenagers”

Today, I randomly remembered an old conversation with Mr. Saints, a high school classmate I never talked to during that phase. In 2016, when he learned from my Facebook posts that my favorite band is the legendary alternative/hard rock band Foo Fighters, he sent a message, then we switched on our fanboy modes, and we talked about our favorite songs and albums.

During the conversation, he said this:

Mr. Saints: I wish we could’ve been friends during high school because I only knew a few people who listened to Foo Fighters while everyone else was into emo.

And then I frankly told them this:

Song of the Moment XCIII: Daft Punk’s “Around the World”

The past few days at work have been a challenge for me because I was assigned a task that is beyond my familiar responsibilities. But there’s one thing I’m grateful for because of said task: I learned new things. Beyond the stress, there’s growth.

Anyway, when it comes to choices I made this week, I’m glad I chose to listen less to my favorite Maroon 5 song (and the most heartbreaking, in my opinion), “Back at Your Door”, and more to one of my favorite electronic dance tunes, “Around the World” by the legendary Daft Punk. And tonight, I choose to make it my Song of the Moment.

According to my weekly music stats from Last.fm, I listened to “Around the World” 20+ times so far. Why not? It’s such an amazingly hypnotic song to dance to. In fact, when I ran my only errand today, I was listening to it, and I was tempted to bust a move on the street. When I arrived home, I played it several more times, and that’s when I busted a few moves inspired by the robots, skeletons, and the tall guys in tracksuits in the music video. (You can watch the video below.)

And no one in my family complained about hearing the song’s only lyric (which is the song title) 144 times per play. Yet.

Now I’m going to drink The Devil’s Cup and listen to “Around the World” on repeat tonight. See you in the next post, and happiest weekend, everyone!

Song of the Moment LXXVI: Jim Johnston’s “Rest in Peace”

Oh, man… today, after a long trip to the south to survey and work on a test job, I feel so tired. In fact, I’m so tired that I did not even bother listening to music at all. Or at least until now. I rarely skip music time.

And what is the last song I listened to? It’s the last version of the legendary Undertaker’s theme song, “Rest in Peace”. (Correct me if I’m wrong about the last version.) It is made by another legend in professional wrestling, the musical genius Jim Johnston. (I say this again: Mr. Johnston should be in the WWE Hall of Fame.)

Now that I think about it, I will listen to “Rest in Peace” again tonight, and then I will rest. Not in peace, just rest.

Until the next post.
