30-Minute Warning XXXIX

What can I tell here under 30 minutes?

Today, I got the peaceful Sunday that I wanted. There was one thing on today’s to-do list that I didn’t get to do (which is to try the Ube Pinipig from Panco Cafe), but at least I was able to do my Sunday habit: go to Mass with my family. My heart and soul are simply happy.

And there was a bonus treat: After Mass, my Mother, cousins, and I went to Army Navy and I had my favorite food in the world—a chicken burrito with orange cheese. After more than a month of not eating my favorite dish, I finally did. Thank you for the wonderful treat, Mother!

In a previous post, I said that I want to make changes in my life slowly but surely. Aside from having one celebratory glass of Jack & Coke Zero per week, moving forward, I also swear to have my favorite burrito occasionally instead of every week. Why? Firstly, I want to save more money. Secondly, I have been celebrating my small victories every weekend with said burrito. But this time, I want to make the chicken burrito special again, so having it on special occasions does that. And tonight’s chicken burrito is extra special because my Mother ordered it for me. Thank you once again, my beloved Mother!

And my 30 minutes are up. See you in the next post.

XXVII: Just One Jack & Coke Zero

Since last weekend, it felt like a season finale and a season premiere. My heart feels like it has been healed like never before, and I want to make a few changes in my life slowly but surely.

One of those changes is this… moving forward, instead of drinking at least one Jack & Coke Zero on the rocks every Friday or Saturday night (depending on whether I have extra work), I will just drink one Jack & Coke Zero on the rocks every Friday or Saturday night. Just one.

For the past years, I have been drinking my favorite cocktail to numb myself and then wake up the next day feeling groggy. Tonight, I’m savoring every sip from that one glass to celebrate the small victories every weekend.

For example, what are this week’s small victories? Well, firstly, I finished most of my work on time. When I couldn’t finish a task, I told my bosses directly instead of keeping it to myself. I stopped myself from buying things impulsively. I made time to write more in my offline journal, but I also found a way to make the process more efficient. Also, for the first time in a long while, I blogged three times this week. (And this post is this week’s post number 3. Yes!)

And most importantly, I’m drinking because I’m still here. I’m still fighting. That’s a victory already.

Just one ice-cold glass of Jack & Coke Zero per week is all I need from now on.

Mark my f’n words,

The Deranged Writer

Song of the Moment LXXXVII: The Union Underground’s “Across the Nation”

Move to the music, play that fucking music!

The Union Underground’s “Across the Nation”

Whether I’m drunk or sober, if you ask me what is the best theme song of WWE’s Monday Night Raw, my answer will always be “Across the Nation” by The Union Underground. The song’s hard rock instrumentals and rough vocals blend perfectly with WWE Raw and the Ruthless Aggression era (one of my favorite eras of WWE)—it sounds so ruthless and aggressive.

Papa Roach’s “…To Be Loved” and Shinedown’s “Enemies” (my second and third favorite WWE Raw theme songs) also have the raw (no pun intended) energy fitting for the red brand, but the aggression that “Across the Nation” brings to the table is just incomparable. And tonight, it’s my Song of the Moment.

The Union Underground’s “Across the Nation”.

Now let me drink my Jack & Coke Zero and move to the music. See you in the next post. Cheers!
