10-Minute Warning XXVI

I usually start a Minute Warning post with a question: What can I share here in under 10 minutes? Today I’m pretty sure I will write something in less than 10 minutes.

Since last night, I have been staying in the family condominium and I… feel down more than usual? I think the sadness started when I got exhausted after last night’s gig (the younger brothers organized it with a major record label) and I didn’t eat dinner on time. And I think the sadness became worse when I overslept. I mean, I slept 3:30am and I woke up at 2:30pm. An 11-hour sleep… damn.

After waking up so late, I decided to take a long, cold bath, put on my flannel shirt, black slacks and black kicks and go to my favorite cafe and safe space Satchmi. I had a Satchmi BLT and a house blend ice tea while I’m writing on my journal.

After writing, I finally took time to listen to the newly-released Foo Fighters album But Here We Area. And what can I say about the new Foos record? Well, simply put, it’s their most painful album yet. Yes, I know I’m already feeling way down and I shouldn’t listen to music that can possibly amplify the sadness. But thanks to the new Foos album, I was able to process the sadness without making it worse, and the pain becomes somehow bearable. That is one of things I love about the Foos – their music heals my broken heart, mind and soul. Thank you, Foo Fighters, for saving me once again.

And I almost forgot: I’m blogging on mobile once again. I forgot to bring my laptop to the condo.

And time’s up.

Gratitude Log I

2 weeks ago, I saw an Instagram post from musician, gamer, and cosplayer Ms. Ashley Gosiengfiao, and it got my attention because it’s about being thankful. Let me quote a part of the caption.

For 1 week, mentally (or even verbally) say thank you to the universe for every little thing. For every cup of coffee, for the roof over your head, for the gadget that you’re using to read this right now, for your nice skin today, for that momentary gust of wind on this hot day, for that pretty butterfly that just flew by, etc.

EVERY. LITTLE. THING. That you receive or that you just happen to find beautiful.

10-Minute Warning VII

So, what can I type here after publishing the 6th 10-Minute Warning Post an hour ago?

Well, this week, with the exception of my favorite song of all time and alarm clock music, Foo Fighters’ “The Pretender”, it has been fun listening to Bruno Mars’ music from his studio albums to his collaborations with Mark Ronson and Anderson .Paak (as Silk Sonic). And no, the period before Paak is not a typo. And I enjoy Mars’ music not because most people have been telling me I look like him. I enjoy his music because they are totally good music. His music sounds vintage fun yet modern, and there is no Bruno Mars song that I don’t like. And yes, Bruno Mars is as mainstream as he can get, but I believe more people should listen to his music. Most friends of mine listen to music. So why not add more?

That being said, I should listen to Snoop Dogg’s `debut and best album (in my opinion) Doggystyle. I’m not kidding – that hip-hop album got me through a rough 2016, the year I was diagnosed with clinical depression. And the album is available again on my trusty music app Spotify, so why enjoy listening to the album like I used to? Thank you, Snoop Dogg, for making Doggystyle available on Spotify again.

As of this typing, I still feel buzzed from all 5 glasses of my beloved Jack and Coke and I’m only at home. And you know what? It’s fun! And I also feel more confident when I’m drunk as fuck. I think they call that “liquid courage”? I don’t think I will properly remember how I write this shit.

Also, I should type this in: I should save some money for a Motorino, a portable record player from my favorite cafe Satchmi. I have been going to the cafe since God knows when, but I still have not bought their Motorino. I hope to buy one before 2023 ends. Wish me luck!

And time’s up.
