Song of the Moment XLVI: Linkin Park’s “The Emptiness Machine”

Tonight, let me enjoy the incredible energy and sound of “The Emptiness Machine”, the newest song from one of my top 5 favorite bands of all time, Linkin Park.

After 7 long years, Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, and Joe Hahn are back with a new co-vocalist and drummer, Emily Armstrong (of Dead Sara) and Colin Brittain, and I’m so happy about their return. I love the new single “The Emptiness Machine” (it’s on repeat as I type this), and the band’s performance on their recent concert livestream is breathtaking. They still sound perfect live, and Ms. Armstrong’s vocal ability (especially when she sang the LP classics) made their performance sound fresh but still passionate. I’m sure our beloved Chester Bennington is so proud and smiling from above.

I’m so pumped for the upcoming Linkin Park album From Zero (which will be released on November 15, 2024), and I hope the band includes the Philippines in their world tour soon.

Welcome back, Linkin Park!

Song of the Moment XLV: Catch Your Breath (Finn Bálor’s Theme Song)

Let me just say this: I like Finn Bálor’s current WWE theme, “I Am Danger”, but it will never beat “Catch Your Breath” (both the original and remix versions). It’s my 2nd favorite pro wrestling theme song next to Undertaker’s (all versions) because, in my opinion, the exquisite orchestral rock fits Finn Bálor’s character and his alter ego “The Demon”. And strangely, it’s also 1 of the 3 songs I listen to when I start feeling happy. (Learn the other 2 on this post.)

I miss hearing “Catch Your Breath” on WWE TV. I hope “The Demon” Finn Bálor returns someday with it.

That is all. Happy Monday!

Song of the Moment XLIV: Ghost’s “If You Have Ghosts” (A Roky Erickson Cover)

After my recent mental health issues, I totally need a distraction. And for some strange reason, I remember Ghost’s cover of a Roky Erickson song, “If You Have Ghosts”. It’s the 1st song from Ghost’s 1st EP If You Have Ghost, released in 2013. And now I’m listening to it repeatedly as I type this post.

1 reason Ghost (a Swedish heavy metal/hard rock band) became one of my top 10 favorite bands of all time is their cover of “If You Have Ghost”. Their take on a psychedelic rock song is so different compared to the original, and I love it. When I listen to the song, I feel like I have everything.

If you have ghosts
You have everything

Another thing I love about Ghost is their acoustic performance of the song for HardDrive Radio’s YouTube channel – a video I always rewatch. I’m amazed at Papa Emeritus III’s vocal power and the Nameless Ghouls’ acoustic guitar skills in the video (especially at 1:36). Check out the video below.

And to close this post, who’s the producer of Ghost’s entire EP If You Have Ghost? My hero, Dave Grohl. Nice. No wonder I love the EP and Ghost themselves.
