This post is a part of 14 Days of The Deranged Writer (2024).
Spoiler warning if you have not seen “Nothing Good Happens After 2am”, episode 18 of How I Met Your Mother (Season 1).
One thing I love to do during the holiday season is re-watching one of my favorite shows of all time, the American romantic comedy-drama How I Met Your Mother. Last month I started watching it again (but not daily this time because I was also enjoying the Arrowverse’s Flash series, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, among others).
Tonight, because I feel extra melancholic, I decided to drink my favorite Jack & Coke Zero at 7:00pm (that’s a few hours earlier than usual) and watch a few more episodes of How I Met Your Mother (Season 1)… and then I watched the season’s episode 18, “Nothing Good Happens After 2am”. After all these years, it’s still painful and embarrassing to watch Ted Mosby lying to Robin Scherbatsky about breaking up with Victoria, making out with Robin, Robin finding out that Ted and Victoria have not broken up, Robin throwing the phone at Ted and telling him to call Victoria, and then Ted truly breaking up with Victoria via phone call. It was so cringe-worthy overall. Indeed, nothing good happens after 2am. (A few exceptions aside, as an adult, I truly believe in that.)
Now, tonight, “Hard Left”, the last song played on “Nothing Good Happens After 2am” is my Song of the Moment. Thank you, Robin Hackett.
See you tomorrow… and 6 days to go before my birthday.
