As part of 14 Days of The Deranged Writer (2025), and since drinking UCC Class One coffee is a part of my morning ritual nowadays, I’d like to talk about a legendary YouTube video that has stuck with me since 2010. It’s a video so memorably epic that I always remember it when I drink black coffee (or any caffeinated drink, for that matter).
I’m talking about the video titled “Dave Grohl in FRESH POTS!”
Because I was so tired from yesterday’s happenings, I spent today at home watching episodes of Daredevil (Season 1), the iconic Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (one of Elder Brother’s favorite movies), and the entire Season 3 of Marvel’s What If…?. I love weekends like this.
And to cap off the night, I’m drinking my favorite Jack and Coke Zero while listening to “Slither”, my favorite song from the hard rock supergroup Velvet Revolver. The band consists of Guns N’ Roses’ Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum, Wasted Youth’s Dave Kushner, and Stone Temple Pilots’ Scott Weiland (God rest his soul), and they are my favorite supergroup next to Them Crooked Vultures. (I mentioned the Vultures in a previous Song of the Moment.)
Oh, man… I should listen to Velvet Revolver’s studio albums Contraband and Libertad after listening to “Slither” on repeat. Their albums are simply fantastic and nostalgic. (They are nostalgic because they were a part of my “college commute” playlist when I was a sophomore. Damn. I miss my iPod Nano and the good times. The commute during rush hour… not so much.)
The music video of Velvet Revolver’s “Slither”.
Until the next post.

I said I would listen to at least one different music artist per week, and last Monday I listened to all of Spice Girls’ studio albums. (Yes, I listen to Spice Girls. Deal with it.) But because January 14 is Dave Grohl’s birthday, I had to set the iconic English girl group aside and listen more to the bands throughout Mr. Grohl’s career – iconic grunge band Nirvana, my favorite band of all time Foo Fighters, and my favorite rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures.
As I type this, I’m drinking my favorite Jack and Coke Zero while listening to “Mind Eraser, No Chaser”, the second song from Them Crooked Vultures’ self-titled debut (and only) album and my favorite song from them. Mr. Grohl’s team-up with Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age and John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin is mind-blowing. I hope they will reunite and make another record.
