Song of the Moment XCI: New Radicals’ “Someday We’ll Know” (Again)

Many things happened yesterday. I took the train to Makati and met my parents there. We did an ocular in the south. We tried an interesting Filipino restaurant near the ocular site. We had a nice afternoon coffee at the nearest mall. I watched Superman for the second time (alone, this time), and that made me appreciate DC Studios’ first movie even more. And then I dueled with my cousins on a game of Uno. (Just one round.)

What are the things that tied it all together? I was with my loved ones, and it was raining all day long. Also, I had to power through all the events even if I only had 5 hours of sleep.

Now, the continuous rain, the lack of sleep, and yesterday’s events led me to have a mellow mind and heart tonight, with a celebratory Devil’s Cup on hand. It has been a month and a few days since I felt this way, and tonight, I’m fine with it.

And remember when I said that my Spotify has been playing the right soundtrack at the right time recently? The universe and the app did it again tonight, and this time, it played something that reminds me of an old friend and a bittersweet moment. It’s “Someday We’ll Know” by New Radicals, a previous Song of the Moment.

What a perfect mellow song for tonight.

Happy weekend, everyone.

10-Minute Warning CXX

Oh. My. God. I’m tired right now.

I mean, I was out of the house almost the entire day. I joined my parents slash bosses in getting a check in Makati, paid for social insurance, and then went to Lugang Cafe with my parents and my Youngest Brother for lunch. I was craving for some dumplings, so I devoured a lot of those. Thank you, my beloved parents, for the lunch treat. After that, I had my weekly affogato at my favorite cafe Satchmi, and then updated my journal there. Now my week is complete. Thank you, Satchmi.

And then this question popped into my head again: Should I buy the Samsung Galaxy S24+ today? So I went to a few shops and checked for a great deal. Of course, all of them can give the same installment plan. But there is 1 shop that can provide more than just the phone – 3 freebies like a portable Bluetooth speaker, wireless headphones, and a travel adapter. I’m not sure about the freebies’ quality, but 3 freebies? Damn.

But then again, I’m not ready to buy the Samsung Galaxy S24+. So I didn’t buy it. At least today, I didn’t. My Japan trip is coming in 10 days, so I might change my mind about not buying. But right now… no. Not today.

What else can I share here before my 10 minutes is done? Well, other than I’m having an ice-cold Jack and Coke Zero, that’s it. That’s it.

30-Minute Warning XVIII

So, what can I type here under 30 minutes?

Oh, goodness… what a long day. I went to Malate to pick up something important, and since El Poco Cantina is nearby, I went there to have a late lunch. Their quesabirria tacos are so yummy that I will go back for more and I will recommend their food (again) to everyone in my inner circle.

After my late lunch, I hopped on the LRT and MRT (something I have not done in [I think] 2 years) and I was reminded of all my daily commutes as a student and as a worker in Makati. The coaches were almost packed to capacity, but it was bearable. It’s a good thing I took the train before rush hour. After the train ride, I went to my favorite spot Satchmi for my affogato fix and to write in my journal. After that, I went to BGC for some more errands, and then I went home.

Basically, I went to 3 different cities today. It was tiring but it was nice and somehow productive.

What else? Oh, right. Taylor Swift is in Singapore for her Eras Tour. She already performed last March 2, 3, 4, 7, and today, March 8 (I’m sure the show already ended after I typed this post). Her final Singapore show (at least for the Eras Tour) will happen tomorrow, March 9. That’s 6 shows in Singapore. Wow. And I’m so happy for my friends who have seen her and will see her live. My favorite band, Foo Fighters, performed at the same stadium last August 26, 2017, and I have so many happy memories of that show. I hope to see the Foos again, Taylor Swift, or any other favorite musical act of mine this 2024 or later. Fingers crossed!

And time’s up.
