Song of the Moment LXXII: Velvet Revolver’s “Slither”

Because I was so tired from yesterday’s happenings, I spent today at home watching episodes of Daredevil (Season 1), the iconic Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (one of Elder Brother’s favorite movies), and the entire Season 3 of Marvel’s What If…?. I love weekends like this.

And to cap off the night, I’m drinking my favorite Jack and Coke Zero while listening to “Slither”, my favorite song from the hard rock supergroup Velvet Revolver. The band consists of Guns N’ Roses’ Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum, Wasted Youth’s Dave Kushner, and Stone Temple Pilots’ Scott Weiland (God rest his soul), and they are my favorite supergroup next to Them Crooked Vultures. (I mentioned the Vultures in a previous Song of the Moment.)

Oh, man… I should listen to Velvet Revolver’s studio albums Contraband and Libertad after listening to “Slither” on repeat. Their albums are simply fantastic and nostalgic. (They are nostalgic because they were a part of my “college commute” playlist when I was a sophomore. Damn. I miss my iPod Nano and the good times. The commute during rush hour… not so much.)

The music video of Velvet Revolver’s “Slither”.

Until the next post.

30-Minute Warning XXXVI

So, what can I share here in under 30 minutes?

In the 10th entry of 14 Days of The Deranged Writer (2024), I would like to share how I feel: I feel better now. Why? Because yesterday, I finally found time to purely focus on organizing my birthday dinner this December 5. I already reached out to three of my choices for the venue (on Viber), and I will check out two of those venues today. I need to settle for a venue today and I can’t delay that any further.

Before the venue selection, I asked my family and a few friends if they were available on December 5, and even if there was no venue yet, all of them confirmed their attendance. I’m so happy to know that 12 loved ones – my parents, brothers, 2 cousins, and a few friends – are going, and that is why I need to settle for a venue today and then finally tell my beloved where I will celebrate my birthday. I don’t want to confirm the venue at the last minute. And that is why I’m writing this Minute Warning post at 2am.

In other news: There is this biker jacket that I have been eyeing like a vulture for years online, and even if it’s on sale because it’s Black Friday weekend, it is still ultra-pricier compared to my Bullet Club 10th anniversary jacket. But that’s the thing – it’s on sale. Should I get it before my birthday? Maybe I should as a gift to myself…

Inner Dewey: Don’t do that, you, idiot. You already bought a Deadpool Funko Pop, a Moleskine 2025 planner, a few more Moleskine pocket journals, and you have a birthday dinner coming up. You have enough birthday gifts already. Just don’t.

Me: OK, fine. I will not…

Inner Dewey: Good.

Me: …for now.

Inner Dewey: Come on, man. Even if it’s your birthday and it’s the holidays…

And time’s up.

30-Minute Warning XXV

So, what can I share here under 30 minutes after not blogging last Wednesday and yesterday?

Well, I apologize for the lack of updates recently because I don’t feel like following my blogging schedule this week. I have been following said schedule for a long time, and I think I deserve to break the rules and take a break once in a while. I’m no writing machine; I’m only human. But since I still want to blog 3 times a week, I’m blogging today… on a Saturday.

Anyway, what happened while I was not writing here on The Diary? I’m getting a new custom Funko Pop made by the amazingly talented Gino Roberto. I love the 1st version of my custom Pop, and I’m confident he will kill it on the 2nd version! I made a downpayment yesterday and will have it delivered a few days before the Japan trip. I’m so stoked!

As for what happened today? Well, I don’t have anything to work on today, so I dropped by the condominium to give my Elder Brother and Youngest Brother their clothes, and then I watched 2 episodes of X-Men ’97. I regret not watching the animated series sooner, but at least I have a series to binge-watch this weekend. And thank you, Elder Brother, for giving me some Magnum Cookies & Cream while watching the series.

After binge-watching, I dropped by Satchmi and had my weekly dose of affogato. SM Megamall has a 5-day sale, so I’m surprised that I enjoyed my favorite coffee and ice cream combo at my favorite spot in my favorite cafe. Nice. And even though there was a mall-wide sale, I didn’t buy anything – not even the Samsung Galaxy S24+ or S24 Ultra I wanted. I might buy either before the end of May, but still…

Anyway, I should watch episode 3 of X-Men ’97 while I drink a cold glass of Jack and Coke. It’s finally the weekend!
