VIII: The Deranged Writer’s 33rd Birthday (So Far)

Hello. Here’s what happened today, my birthday, so far.

I

Today I woke up at 10am; I planned on waking up earlier than that, but that’s all right. It’s my birthday.

Anyway, my Mother made some soft-boiled eggs for breakfast. My heart is happy because soft-boiled eggs have been one of my favorite dishes since I was little. After breakfast, I checked my socials (notably Facebook and Messenger) and read some of the birthday messages. I don’t want to reply to them yet, but I will later tonight or tomorrow.

After checking my socials, I continued working on a few November billings and then I watched a few episodes of Queer Eye on Netflix. Watching this show makes me feel so good; it has so much infectious positivity. After that, I had a piece of fried chicken and brown rice for lunch. After lunch, I had a long, cold bath to wake up further.

II

What are my plans for later? I will go to my favorite cafe Satchmi and have some chocolate lava cake topped with salted caramel iced cream. (I will post this later on my Instagram.) After that, I will check on some phones at the nearby Samsung store. (I might upgrade to a newer, faster phone with a better camera set for content creation?)

And to cap off my birthday, I will have a simple Italian dinner with my Mother, Father, Elder Brother, Younger Brother, Youngest Brother, my cousins Yan and Risa, and a few of my closest friends – Jomar, Marc, and Cim. I cannot wait for that!

III

Wow. I’m so glad I woke up today. Waking up led me to have good food, a refreshing bath, and a stable job. Waking up led me to enjoy my hobbies (watching my favorite series, etc.). Waking up led me to celebrate another year of my life with my favorite people tonight.

And I believe that waking up today means the powers that be are not done with me yet. Waking up—especially on my birthday—means my story is not yet finished.

Happiest 33rd birthday to me, The Deranged Writer!

The Deranged Writer

Yes, he wears a mask sometimes. And according to most people, he looks like Bruno Mars when he is unmasked. Absolutely deranged, below-average writer.
