Song of the Moment XXXIV: Justin Timberlake’s “Like I Love You” (featuring Clipse)

Last June 24, 2024, I walked and jogged on my favorite jogging path for an hour after more than a week of not exercising. And the exact second I stopped jogging, heavy rain poured. I ran to the nearest parking building, and for some strange reason, I wanted to hear this song from Justin Timberlake. I don’t remember the title, but I remember this line:

If you smile, then that should set the tone

So, I googled “Justin Timberlake” and the above line on my phone, then finally saw and remembered the song title: “Like I Love You”. I quickly opened my Spotify and then played the song on repeat. What a dance-worthy song. And I also learned the name of the one who made and performed the rap verse: a hip-hop duo named Clipse. Thank you, Google and Wikipedia.

Now let me listen to this Justin Timberlake classic on repeat again. Happy weekend!

Song of the Moment XXX: Foo Fighters’ “Normal”

As I’m typing this, it’s 11pm and I’m having a short break from photocopying service reports. I know… that sounds boring. But at least it pays the bills. My Mother slash boss told me I could continue photocopying tomorrow, but I wanted to finish the task tonight.

Anyway, I opened my Spotify, checked my liked songs, pressed the shuffle button, and then the play button. What’s the 1st song I hear? A Foo Fighters deep cut, “Normal”. The ballad can be found in one of the Foos’ Foo Files EPs, “00020225”, and its lyrics – especially the chorus – are some of the most profound lines about longing for someone and turning things around.

Will you come out tonight?
Will you back down, will you put up a fight?
Turn me around and make everything right
Make me normal from now on

Foo Fighters’ “Normal”

Speaking of longing, now I’m reminded of someone. (I’m not going to mention who.) I changed my mind about listening on shuffle; now I just want to listen to “Normal” on repeat tonight.

That is all.

Song of the Moment XV: Foo Fighters’ “Exhausted”

Tonight, I don’t feel like telling a story as I feel tired physically and mentally. I’m sorry. Let me just quote and share one of Foo Fighters’ deep cuts – coming from the self-titled debut album that was released in 1995. Thank you, my all-time favorite band.

After the bliss has long ended
This caution, this fault
Give me a breeze that’s long-winded
Accosted, adult
Arrested

Happy weekend to all.
