Song of the Moment LIII: Coheed and Cambria’s “The Suffering”

I still have not reached my monthly blog count, and October will end tomorrow. Damn it, Deranged Writer. You need to force yourself sometimes.

Anyway, I’m still on a Coheed and Cambria sound trip, and I finally reached their third studio album and arguably their magnum opus: Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness. It’s the first Coheed album I listened to in full and it’s still my top favorite Coheed album because of the entire record’s perfectly dark and epic rock and orchestral arrangements. I can also say that Good Apollo One (both the album and the graphic novel that ties into The Amory Wars story) is a major inspiration to my Deranged Writer persona.

Oh, man. I enjoyed listening to Good Apollo One again so much that I already listened to the album twice. I already listened to the Coheed albums Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow and Year of the Black Rainbow, but I’m going back and listen to Good Apollo One tonight.

As for my Song of the Moment tonight, let me share arguably Good Apollo One’s catchiest song and my second all-time favorite Coheed and Cambria song, “The Suffering”. If I were to introduce Coheed and Cambria to a friend, I would recommend “The Suffering” first and then “Welcome Home”, my number one favorite Coheed song ever. Or I would recommend “Welcome Home” first and then “The Suffering”, whichever comes to mind.

(Speaking of “Welcome Home”, I will definitely blog about it soon.)

That is all for now.

Song of the Moment LII: Coheed and Cambria’s “A Favor House Atlantic”

Hello there. I was supposed to blog yesterday, but I didn’t have access to the Internet the whole day and even my mobile data sucked. Now that both means of Internet access are back, I’m also back on The Diary and I might blog twice in one day soon.

Anyway, I recently finished listening to Coheed and Cambria’s second studio album In Keeping Secrets to Silent Earth: 3, and… wow. It has been a long time since I listened to the album from beginning to end, and it was a nostalgic trip because it reminded me of my first year of college – the same time I was becoming a huge fan of the progressive rock band. And what is one of my favorite tracks from the album? “A Favor House Atlantic”, the album’s second shortest song… and the catchiest.

Song of the Moment XLIX: Linkin Park’s “Somewhere I Belong”

Last month, I decided to listen to only 1 favorite band on Spotify indefinitely: Linkin Park. And this week I will listen to all their albums chronologically.

Tonight, while I was at my favorite spot Satchmi, I listened to the entirety of Linkin Park’s magnum opus Hybrid Theory and several tracks of the remix album Reanimation. I finished the latter while I was on my way home. After coming home, I started listening to the 2nd studio album Meteora, and after “Somewhere I Belong” I had to pause and write this post. Why? The song’s chorus screams what I’m feeling right now.

I wanna heal, I wanna feel
What I thought was never real
I wanna let go of the pain I’ve felt so long
(Erase all the pain ’til it’s gone)
I wanna heal, I wanna feel
Like I’m close to something real
I wanna find something I’ve wanted all along
Somewhere I belong

‘Til the next post.
