Song of the Moment XLI: Teri DeSario’s “Fallin'”

One of the things I loved to do as a child was listen to the radio before going to sleep. One of the songs that really stuck with me was “Fallin'” by Teri DeSario, a song that deals with falling in love and having second thoughts about it.

Of course, when I heard “Fallin'” as a kid, I had no clue what love was. I don’t even have a crush at school at that time. But Ms. DeSario’s soft singing and the perfectly mellow instrumentals stuck in my mind and heart and I didn’t need to fall in love to appreciate the song. And when I did fall in love a few times, I went back to listening to “Fallin'”, making the song more relevant in my life than ever.

But since Thursday, I have been listening to Teri DeSario’s “Fallin” for a different reason. And that’s…

30-Minute Warning XXXII

All right. What can I share here in under 30 minutes?

Yesterday, I could not finish my work because of overthinking. I wanted to get out at night to distract myself, so I did. I updated my journal while having my affogato at my favorite cafe Satchmi, and then I enjoyed watching Deadpool & Wolverine for the 2nd time. After all that, I went home at 12am, feeling better.

Speaking of work, I’m almost done with my work today – monthly billings, to be exact. Tomorrow I’m going on a printing and photocopying galore. Yes, my current clerical work (for the family business) is not exciting compared to my previous web/graphic design jobs, but at least it pays the bills and I can save money.

What else? Oh, I forgot to mention: Because of Deadpool & Wolverine, I went on a Ryan Reynolds movie marathon last weekend. Specifically, I watched R.I.P.D. (Rest In Peace Department), The Hitman’s Bodyguard, The Change-Up, and, of course, Deadpool and Deadpool 2. Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool, man. As for the other Reynolds movies I have watched, I truly enjoyed The Hitman’s Bodyguard’s action scenes and overall story, and I don’t know what to say about R.I.P.D. and The Change-Up… for now.

And that’s it. That’s all for now.

Maybe I should watch Deadpool & Wolverine for the 3rd time this weekend.

Well, yeah. That’s it for now. For real.

Song of the Moment XL: Foo Fighters’ “Another Round”

On June 14, 2005, The Foo Fighters released their 5th studio album In Your Honor. It’s a double album with heavy rock songs on the 1st disc and mellow acoustic tracks on the 2nd. And my favorite song on the acoustic side (and one of my top 20 favorite Foo Fighters songs ever) is “Another Round”.

I love “Another Round” for a few reasons. Firstly, the harmonica solo by Danny Clinch made the song stand out from the rest of disc 2. Secondly, Dave Grohl’s gentle guitar strumming while singing his heart out. And thirdly, I am in awe of the mellow lyrics. Here is a part of it:

Room full of photographs
Box full of letters
Come on make it last
Nothing else matters right now

Foo Fighters’ “Another Round”

But even if “Another Round” is one of my favorite Foos songs of all time, I have listened to it less in recent years. Maybe it’s because of some of the memories attached to the song when I listened to it almost nonstop. But now I’m older, I have been through a lot, and many things have changed, tonight I’m listening to it multiple times with a different understanding.

A live performance of Foo Fighters’ “Another Round” from the live acoustic album and DVD Skin and Bones.

That is all.
