Notes to Self XXIV

For those who have been following The Diary since February 2023, you have read my struggles with Steinermania. Almost everything reminds me of the craziest professional wrestler, “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner. I even have a hard time computing simple math because my brain has been conditioned to remember Steiner Math instead.

That’s why it’s been difficult typing my first Notes to Self of 2026. Then again, I had to write this because the leading expert in Steiner Math has said something unbelievably profound on X (the social media site formerly known as Twitter), even if it’s wrapped in typical Steiner promo fashion.

Not everyone can be a genetic freak like me, but everybody can start today.

“Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner, January 1, 2026 on X

Firstly, I agree. Not everyone can be a genetic freak like, well, The Genetic Freak. No one will ever have biceps on top of biceps like Mr. Steiner has. And if you’d like to disagree with him about not being a genetic freak, sure. I dare you.

But beneath the absurdity, the Big Bad Booty Daddy said something true: everybody can start today, and the fact that he posted it on New Year’s Day was poetic. No matter what your goal is in life, you can start today. Not tomorrow; today. And even if you didn’t start reaching for your goals on exactly January 1, any other day can be your Day 1. Don’t worry about being precise when it comes to dates. What matters is that you start today.

One of my goals for 2026 is to rebuild my social media presence. In particular, I started rebuilding my Instagram feed on January 1. My personal graphic designer and I made some templates so I could achieve the same alternate checkerboard theme that I had in my previous feed, and it has been smooth sailing so far. This year, I will do my best to post on my socials as regularly as I do here in The Diary.

Wow. I cannot believe I wrote that with a straight face, without even thinking of 141 and 2/3… oh, there you go. I just did.

To end the 24th Notes to Self, I will share Mr. Steiner’s exact post on X. I’m not kidding. He really did say something profound.

See you in the next post.

The Deranged Writer

Yes, he wears a mask sometimes. And according to most people, he looks like Bruno Mars when he is unmasked. Absolutely deranged, below-average writer.
