Song of the Moment XL: Foo Fighters’ “Another Round”

On June 14, 2005, The Foo Fighters released their 5th studio album In Your Honor. It’s a double album with heavy rock songs on the 1st disc and mellow acoustic tracks on the 2nd. And my favorite song on the acoustic side (and one of my top 20 favorite Foo Fighters songs ever) is “Another Round”.

I love “Another Round” for a few reasons. Firstly, the harmonica solo by Danny Clinch made the song stand out from the rest of disc 2. Secondly, Dave Grohl’s gentle guitar strumming while singing his heart out. And thirdly, I am in awe of the mellow lyrics. Here is a part of it:

Room full of photographs
Box full of letters
Come on make it last
Nothing else matters right now

But even if “Another Round” is one of my favorite Foos songs of all time, I have listened to it less in recent years. Maybe it’s because of some of the memories attached to the song when I listened to it almost nonstop. But now I’m older, I have been through a lot, and many things have changed, tonight I’m listening to it multiple times with a different understanding.

Song of the Moment XXIV: New Radicals’ “Someday We’ll Know”

Tonight, I feel so mellow. But instead of explaining how I feel, let me quote the alternative rock band New Radicals.

If I can ask God just one question…
Why aren’t you here with me tonight?

Notes to Self XII

For the 1st time since I started The Diary, I did not blog on a Monday. Why? I walked and jogged on Three Trees and, well, I took a break from writing. And that’s what I want to share in my 12th Notes to Self.

For my new readers of The Diary, Notes to Self is where I quote something note-worthy from any media or someone I know. In this 12th edition of Notes to Self though, this is a literal note to self.
