30-Minute Warning XV

OK. What can I share here in under 30 minutes?

Let me recall what happened last weekend. Last Friday night, I had my weekly Jack and Coke and an Army Navy California Burger to kick off the weekend. This is why I’m fat. But whatever. My weekend kick-off makes me happy. But this time, I lessened the number of Jack and Cokes I drank – I drank 2 instead of 3. My therapist told me to slowly lessen the drinking instead of going cold turkey, so I did. As much as I want to gulp my favorite drink, I need to take care of my health.

How about last Saturday? Well, the day was all right. I paid some bills and I rested a lot. Thank goodness for the weekend. But the most note-worthy thing happened during the night: my younger brothers’ band joined a battle of the bands. As usual, I recorded their whole set, but I was screaming and cheering for them this time. Unfortunately, they lost, but what matters is they did their best. Better luck next time… and I will invite more people to cheer for the band. And hats off to the other bands – they also killed it and they deserve the cheers they got.

As for Sunday, I went to church and then I dropped by my favorite spot Satchmi. But before I went to my favorite cafe, I suddenly saw a friend that I had not seen in… a decade? Yeah! It was that long. But seeing my friend for a few seconds made my day – the 1st friend I interacted with in person this 2024. I love it when I see good friends suddenly and without planning it! After seeing my friend and having my weekly cafe drink, I joined my Mother and cousins in having some tasty ramen for dinner. My weekend ended on a lovely note!

Moving on to today, I feel great! What happened during the weekend gave me a lot of energy to do all the sudden workload for today. And working while listening to the Foo Fighters’ 10th studio album Medicine at Midnight – which was released 3 years ago today – motivated me even further. Thank you, my favorite band.

I started my week strong, and I hope to keep it up throughout the week and beyond!

And time’s up.

Surprise! I’m blogging on a Sunday at 1am!

I just drank 3 Jack and Cokes that I mixed myself. And before that, I bought 4 cans of Jack and Coke and 1.5L of Coke Zero at the nearest 7-Eleven. I’m running out of Jack Daniel’s whiskey, so I must buy another bottle before 2023 ends.

You’re wondering, “The Deranged Writer surely drinks a lot of Jack and Coke.” Yes, I am. But in my defense, I only drink during weekends unless I’m in a gig or a social event during weekdays (which rarely happens; the social events I go to usually happen during weekends or late Thursdays). I know that eventually I will lessen my drinking as I get older, but right now I’m enjoying being buzzed after drinking my favorite alcoholic drink. I’m 33, for crying out loud.

Last night, I did something I had never done before: take a bath while being tipsy or drunk. I don’t even know if I did my entire routine step by step, but I’m sure I feel refreshed right now. A few cans of Jack and Coke and a cold bath = perfect combination.

This morning, I need to run errands at the mall. I’m sure there will be more people at the mall because of the Christmas rush, so I need to go to the mall as early as possible and accomplish what I need to accomplish. After that, I will go to my favorite spot Satchmi, have my affogato, and write in my journal there, and then I will attend Night 3 of the anticipated Simbang Gabi.

What else? Oh! I’m listening to Sheryl Crow’s “If It Makes You Happy” on repeat. It still screams what I’m feeling right now.

And time’s up.

OK. What can I write here under 10 minutes?

Well, tonight I went to Night 1 of Simbang Gabi. For those who don’t know what Simbang Gabi is, it’s a series of Holy Masses in preparation for Christmas. It is a 9-day period, and the official start of it is on December 16. This year though, I’m going to attend the anticipated Simbang Gabi, so tonight, December 15, is my Night 1. And like the past few years, I’m going to attend all 9 Masses.

I’m so sure my friends will be surprised when they find out that I go to Mass.

As I’m typing this on mobile, I’m also gulping my 2nd ice-cold Jack and Coke of the night while I’m watching White Collar with my Father. The weekend has begun!

Damn. I’m so buzzed right now. Am I even writing properly?
