Today, before I went to Laguna with my Mother, my Father, and cousin, I got my salary. For a moment, I was happy, but then I remembered…
I got bills I gotta pay
LunchMoney Lewis’ “Bills”
So I’m gon’ work, work, work every day
That is all. (sighs)

A blog series where The Deranged Writer talks about a song he has been listening to repeatedly or has a current significance.

Tonight, I feel so mellow. But instead of explaining how I feel, let me quote the alternative rock band New Radicals.
If I can ask God just one question…
New Radicals’ “Someday We’ll Know”
Why aren’t you here with me tonight?
That is all.

In the previous Song of the Moment post, I shared what was on my on-repeat: “When I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars. Today, I have been listening to the piano demo of the theme song of my all-time favorite pro wrestler, The Undertaker. Jim Johnston, the longest-serving composer for WWE, made the piano demo.
Whenever I’m in a depressive state and I don’t want to bounce back yet, I listen to said piano demo multiple times and dwell in the darkness. And what a beautiful yet haunting piano piece, it is. It is both comforting and saddening whenever I hear it.
Well done, Mr. Johnston. All the theme songs he created for wrestlers like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, and The Undertaker are so legendary that Johnston should have been in the WWE Hall of Fame years ago. I hope he gets inducted into said hall of fame next year.
Anyway, if you’re wondering how I am… I’m not fine. I’m not fine since Saturday afternoon.
I need a drink. But that would ruin my rule of “drinking only on weekends”. So, no. I will not drink now. I will try not to. Fingers crossed.
