Hi! I’m The Deranged Writer. Welcome to the first edition of Notes to Self! This blog segment is where I remind myself of a relevant quote or a simple reminder, and it can be from any form of media or someone I know in real life.
In this first Notes to Self, I would like to share one of my favorite quotes of all time, from one of my favorite movies, Batman Begins.
Spoiler warning if you haven’t seen Batman Begins. If you don’t mind being spoiled, go ahead.
In the movie, the quote was first mentioned by Bruce Wayne’s father, Thomas Wayne, and then Alfred Pennyworth, Batman’s butler and confidante, echoed his father’s words to Bruce after Ra’s al Ghul and his League of Shadows burned Wayne Manor to the ground.
Why do we fall…? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up.

The aforementioned quote is one of the many reasons I love the movie Batman Begins (and the entire Dark Knight Trilogy) as a huge fan of The Caped Crusader, and as a human being. Simply put, we fail, learn from that failure, and then rise and persevere. The cycle continues as long as we grow and persevere.
Over the years, I have launched a few main blogs many times. After several days of successful blogging, I’d get caught in the silence and unproductivity. Whenever that happened, I gave up on the blog, continued the silence, and then I launched another main blog. The cycle continues. This year, I’m relaunching this blog, The Diary, and while I’m scared about losing my way again as I write here, I have this feeling that things will be different this time because I have writing goals that are achievable and realistic. I will reveal those goals in the next post, but in the meantime, wish me luck as I relaunch The Diary!

Until next time!
