Song of the Moment LIV: Coheed and Cambria’s “Key Entity Extraction I: Domino the Destitute”

For my first post this November 2024, I want to share my Song of the Moment: “Key Entity Extraction I: Domino the Destitute”, the second song of Coheed and Cambria’s sixth studio album The Afterman: Ascension and the first song of the Key Entity Extraction suite.

I remember the first time I heard Coheed and Cambria’s fifth studio album Year of the Black Rainbow in 2010, and it took me a few times before I could tell my favorite tracks from it (e.g. “The Broken”). I never experienced that when I heard Coheed’s first four albums honestly. But when I first listened to The Afterman: Ascension in 2012 and eventually “Domino the Destitute”, I was blown away by how epic it sounded for almost 8 minutes straight, and right away I said, “This is definitely my favorite.” It’s like a relative to “Welcome Home” in a way. (Don’t worry. I will blog about that masterpiece of a song soon.)

Also, let me quote my favorite lines from “Domino the Destitute”. Setting aside The Amory Wars interpretation, I think the lines fit a notable side of me.

Ladies and broken gentlemen
The undisputed champ of misery

That is all. See you tomorrow.
