2017: The Year…

8. The Year of Controlling Depression and Anxiety

Chester Bennington’s death really hit me, especially that I am also suffering from depression and anxiety. And in 2016, during one of my sessions, my therapist Dr. Q said this to me:

“I should be the master of my own anxiety; anxiety should not be my own master.”

In spite of suffering a bit more anxiety attacks compared to last year, I kept doing my best to remember what she said and I will continue that in 2018. The major difference this year? Now I am not afraid to talk about it anymore. Mental health should be given just as much priority as our physical health, and it would be nice for more people to be more open-minded about disorders of the mind.
